Cat poops in tub

In an effort to take back the science and find out exactly what’s causing my own cats to stop pooping, I’ve spent a little money and time testing their poop. Over a few weeks, I have collected and recorded all the cat poop I’ve had the chance to observe.

I started with our current cat, Tyla. Tyla poops in a litter box. It’s the easiest to observe (and therefore easiest to write about) — she’s a great guinea pig and pretty patient.

The biggest thing I noticed about Tyla’s poop is how different she was compared to her previous cat. In both of those previous cats, the feces were small, hard pellets that looked very similar to the way a human makes a hard poop.

But it’s the texture of Tyla’s poop that really made me rethink our pets’ digestion: Tyla’s poop is smooth, soft, and nearly liquid.

While I wasn’t able to test our other cat, Biscuit, I did test both of Tyla’s previous cats (our older cat, Charlie, passed on earlier this year and our previous cat, Biscuit, is about to kick the bucket) so I could get a solid comparison of how cat poop changes over time.

As you can see from the photos below, I was able to catch the transition between Tyla’s hard poops and her softer poops while she was alive.

As you can also see, the softer poops didn’t change after Tyla died, but the hard poops are definitely gone.

I believe that Tyla’s death is the reason she changed her poop, death makes the poop change the way it does in humans. My theory is that Tyla simply lost the energy to change her poop, and that once she was gone, the cat needed to find a new outlet for her energy and the best way to do that was to become a kitty puddle.

Why Did Tyla’s Poop Change?

So why did Tyla’s poop change?

There are several reasons.

First, because her body was still healthy and functioning, Tyla was able to go longer than normal without having to poop. In a cat, poop is mostly a reflex, and it’s an instinct for them to get it out as soon as possible.

And because Tyla’s body was functioning correctly, she would also have had all of her natural energy and would not have been in the mood to poop.

Second, for the same reason her body functioned correctly, it wasn’t the cause of her sudden change. It’s more likely that it was the reason that her cat body was no longer in a healthy state, and that was the reason her body changed, and this change meant that it was a bit easier for her poop to come out.

But, like I mentioned, her sudden change didn’t happen in that exact moment. It took several weeks. Maybe even months, so it wasn’t a spur of the moment change. I just think that was the first, and the only change that she ever had.

Conclusion

I think it’s fair to say that Tyla’s poop changed simply because her body was no longer healthy. Her sudden change in poops might have been the reason why she became a kitty puddle, which is a thing where a cat would be on the ground where you are standing, soaking in their own urine and pooping.

So, after discussing this with my friend, I know that there is more to Tyla’s poop, and I think that she might also be a hoarder. I believe she got rid of the “stash” that was hidden in her house, and I believe that there is more hidden somewhere, probably where she is now.

But, for all I know, her poop could be perfectly normal and I’m just blowing things out of proportion.

I just believe that her poop changed because her body wasn’t healthy anymore.

That’s all I have to say about it.
