"A story about a man who takes the time to listen to people around him, learn from them and make himself better. But that doesn't mean he has it easy. He has a job, a car, a family and a lot of baggage to carry. He just doesn't carry it the way most people do." - Jeff Lemire I believe Lemire is a Canadian, though I'm not sure. He has some interesting comics under his belt, but I wasn't familiar with his work until reading his work for The Unwritten. I don't read a whole lot of sci-fi or fantasy comics, but I was hooked by the first one I read of his. I'd like to read more of his work in the future.
I did not pick this up as a Christmas present. It's the gift my wife gave me. On the flip side, she picked this up for me while visiting her father for Christmas.
I was a fan of DC characters before I knew anything about the Unwritten. As I've been trying to get into comics for some time now, I've been reading up on comic book characters as I've gone along. One of the things I noticed, looking at the characters on Wikipedia, is that many are in the process of a big change in their character in their upcoming release. In the case of the Unwritten characters, these changes are actually ongoing. For example, in their previous book, The Unwritten, there was a character called Jack, a man who is one of the mn characters in the book, but he changed in the last book, to become a member of the Wasp.
In that book, all the characters were in their original uniforms, and it's the first time I saw these particular characters in their new uniforms. These characters are set in a school, though they don't really have a school at all. There are the students, and there are the masters of the house, where the adults work and live. There are five mn characters, and the four of them who actually live in the house all have their own rooms. One of the mn characters, Jack, has been sent out to another house to trn and become one of the best, because his older brother was the best.
There are still the regular classes going on, and there are the 'halls,' which are where the other people of the house stay. It's not really a school, because the kids don't get any kind of grades, and the adults don't have any duties. Instead, it's a house, and they all live together. This was kind of a neat idea, that they had not made any real changes to the school from book to book, so it gave the readers something to think about. The fifth mn character, Tom, who is a new arrival in the story, has been sent out to the same place, to trn as a master, to go up agnst this new 'Wasp.'
So, we have the Wasp, who has no title, and we also have a new arrival named Tom who wants to be the best at everything. But the Wasp is the only one who really has any 'knightmares,' where there is a recurring dream where he has to kill a lot of people, but is never really sure if he has killed them, or if he's dreaming about them. I feel like a lot of this came from Shakespeare. We have the dream that everyone has, where they imagine that they have to kill their mothers, and there is something about that that is very powerful. It's almost a fear that you have that's so much greater than any physical fear. It was also interesting that all of these characters have to kill themselves to go on this quest, which was similar to what happened to Romeo and Juliet, in that you have two people who are in love, and it is forbidden to them, but they can't live without each other.
Also, since it's really just a picture book, and not an extremely serious novel, I would say that while I might not read this book when I was little, it's something that I think would be really good for kids who are already in elementary school. It's a good story to have in the classroom, because it's not long, it's really simple. It's just this one page where they're going on this journey to go find the sword, and along the way they go through different places, and meet different people, and deal with the problem of being a slave. The whole thing is really easy to understand, and then you end it with two people kissing at the end. It's actually kind of a perfect book.

I'm finally back at work, after not blogging at all, for two weeks. I just had no desire to blog, because I had so much other stuff going on. I was really busy, I had lots of doctor appointments and everything. So I'm back, and I think I've gotten better at staying on top of the blogging. But I'm still learning how to keep up, but I think that I will. So I decided to start a new book club for the book bloggers of the world. It's going to be called the Lazy Day Book Club, and it's going to be an attempt to do book club, in a way that doesn't involve actually reading a book. But I've set it up so you can do a post every day for a week, and choose a book that you can talk about. Then, whoever starts the week off by talking about the first book can choose the next book. And then all you have to do is pick your favorite books to go through every week, and we can do a book discussion for each book, or we could talk about them in smaller chunks. You could even pick a book you've been meaning to read, but haven't gotten to yet. You can use the book club as a way to keep yourself on track, and do all those good things that you were hoping to do. So for example, I had been planning on blogging, but I had a lot of other things going on, so I haven't really been able to get back to blogging. So what better way to get back on track than to start up this book club. I'm really excited about this, I think it's going to be a lot of fun. If you've read this far down, feel free to sign up, it doesn't matter if you have your own blog, it just matters that you have a blog. You can comment here, or at the link at the bottom of this post. Thanks for your time, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

I feel like I'm constantly having to remind myself to slow down, especially lately. I have had an extremely hectic week and it's really taking its toll on me. Things haven't been going too well at work, I feel like I have nothing to look forward to.
I need to come up with a better solution for getting out of my own way.
I feel like I need to look for something that I love doing. Not work. I love to write, I love to do crafts, and I also love to do other things. But I don't really think I enjoy any of my work as much as I would like to. I think that might be because it is work, and I feel like I should enjoy it more.
I need to figure out how to enjoy my work. It's not like I'm going
