Slab fracture dog tooth repr with micro-miniplate for mini-plate screw holes.

Dog tooth repr using mini-plate is widely used. The repr procedures can be divided into 3 types: (i) no mini-plate, (ii) one mini-plate for repr, (iii) two mini-plates for repr. When using the 3rd type (i.e. two mini-plates), mini-plate holes often exist on the mini-plates. This paper presents a new method of repring tooth injuries with mini-plates using a metal slab as an artificial tooth for canine. After the mini-plates are bonded to the metal slab, the holes of the mini-plates are filled by bonding material and the bonded mini-plates are cut to fit the teeth. Then, a metal slab of suitable length and width is designed and manufactured to fit the canine teeth of an animal. The metal slab is prepared by sandblasting and etching, so it is rough on the surface of the metal slab. For a dog, the metal slab should be about 1/2 the length of the canine teeth and about 1/2 the width of the canine teeth. The metal slab can be fixed on the teeth of the animal using a retner. After bonding, the holes of the mini-plate are filled by bonding material. The metal slab has enough room to cover the holes of the mini-plate. After the mini-plate holes are filled, the metal slab is cut off to fit the teeth. The metal slab is then glued and fastened on the mini-plate using a retner. It is expected that the new method can repr canine tooth injuries and reduce tooth injuries. The new method is simple, economical and easy to apply. The method does not depend on the skill of the surgeon. The new method may reduce post-operative infection and scar formation in oral wounds.
