Why do dogs lay on you?

I have a dog. A lot of dogs. She's a Maltese. She's about 5 years old, but she's almost 8 now. Every time I have a dog, I see this one weird thing. It's the same every time, and I'm wondering if it's normal. My dog lays on me, and her body makes the whole pillow (which is about 10 inches wide and 9 inches tall). I can't really move or walk around with a dog laying down on me. I can't even roll over with it lying on me. It's not comfortable at all. I know she's trying to be warm, but she should probably get off me. Does anyone else have a dog like this, or know why they do it? (I asked the vet, and he sd I need to talk to my dog. She seems fine)

It's not normal for a dog to sleep on you. The only time it would be acceptable is when she was injured or sick and was not able to get off of you.

If she is healthy and well rested it is an indication that she is in need of attention.

What if she is injured, or sick, and she can't get up? It might be time to let her know she's loved.

I would tell her to lay down for a couple minutes and that's okay. If it's not helping to get her off, take her inside or let her out for fresh r.

I understand, but a dog can't sleep on you without wanting something, which is why it's uncomfortable. Dogs like to sleep on a level surface, usually a floor, a mattress or a pillow. It's one of the things that makes them different from us. If she has a comfortable bed and no reason to need to be on your chest, leave her alone.

I think it's a bit weird, but I don't think it's wrong. I don't have any issues with it, I think it's pretty cute! I like the way they're always looking for love and affection from us.

It is completely normal for a dog to lay on you at night, as long as it's not hurting you and she has been given adequate exercise. In most cases, the dog is just doing what it does. If you have a dog that lays on you all the time (not every night but on most), she may just want to get closer to you and be more physically and mentally intimate. Sometimes, she just wants you to hold her and give her the attention and cuddle she wants and need.

I would just pet her and tell her "That's nice girl." I don't think it's anything bad or strange at all. It makes me feel good that she wants to be next to me, even if she can't jump up and curl up like she used to.

My puppy lays down next to me and cuddles up so she doesn't fall off the bed. It's comfy but she can't sleep on me because my dog is on the bed with me. I just put her on the floor with some toys and that keeps her quiet.

This is completely normal behavior for a dog. My dog and I don't sleep on the same pillow, because it is a waste of space, and he has enough room. He lays down and puts his head on my pillow to warm up a little. I never think anything of it, unless she gets too cold.

It's a matter of how long a dog has been living with you. It could be normal for her to do this or it could be something that develops over time. I don't know. When mine starts to do this, I get her off of me. And yes, she's fine.

It's totally normal, it's how dogs and humans have always done it for centuries!

Dogs do the same thing, my mom does it all the time. And my dad. My dad does it to my mom. My dog lays on my feet, so I have a constant pillow. I just can't walk around with her laying on me, but she's always fine. I think it's adorable

That's because they know their humans are warm. That's why they do that.

But it's not because they know you're warm, it's because they want to be near you, they want to be closer to you. You should be ok with it.

I would ask why she feels she needs to lay on you in that manner.

If the dog has good sense of smell and a good sense of hearing, I would think it is because she is trying to locate and check you out. If you notice it at different times and not all the time, and she is not injured, I think it is okay to just ignore it.

I would ask
