I'm going to be gone for a few days. You'll be in charge. Just use your best judgment. And if the dog acts up, I don't want to know.

It was a big day. I'm so proud of her. The owner took her in for a medical procedure. I didn't think it would be that easy. But the vet did it without any anesthesia and she got through it without so much as a whimper. The doctor was very impressed.

She was an extremely docile dog, but I got her spayed. It was very stressful to put her down. I've been crying a lot lately, and it seems the tears won't stop.

I will be gone all day, so if she acts up, it's ok to leave her alone for a few hours. She really is the best.

Cats! A few years ago, a neighbor's cat got run over. She was only 7 months old, a pure black kitty. A stray had come in through her open door and killed her. The vet had never seen anything like it.

I've always thought that there were probably good reasons why we are not supposed to be able to have dogs as pets.

The day after the surgery, the owner called me and asked what I thought. She had never seen a dog that didn't struggle and scream, but this one was lying on the rug in the house.

I told her that she had done a very good thing. Dogs like that have a good chance of being killed by their owner if they get into a fight or are left unattended.

Her next question was if there were any cats around. I told her that I wasn't aware of any. Then she asked if I thought the cat would be ok. She also asked if I had any ideas on how she could get rid of the smell of death.

I told her not to get rid of the smell. It would only be a temporary thing.

So, she did get rid of the smell by bathing her, and I told her to let the cat back in after she was cleaned up. And she did, and I was right.

This morning when I went in, the cat was back to normal.

My dog had kidney issues (he is almost 9) and the vet recommended we put him down. I had a big fight with him, but I knew it was the right thing to do. I told him to be brave and go.

This is the first time I've ever told someone that a cat didn't have to be put down. I guess the fact that they were both scared to death made them "work it out".

My friend's dog had a severe intestinal issue. She had surgery for that and she was sent home. She was in and out of the vet's office several times over the next few weeks. My friend thought she'd be ok to take her home.

She wasn't.

Several hours after she got home, my friend went to see the dog. She found her lying on the ground in her own feces and urine. She was barely alive.

My friend had never been the type to take her dogs to a vet. She was worried that they would get overconfident and take her to the vet, and end up just killing her. So, she called a vet that she'd been dealing with. He told her to bring the dog in right away.

This dog had been taken to the vet's office several times, and each time the vet had given her a medication and told her to take it home and give it time to work.

She wted until after the dog had been at the vet's several times, and only then did she take her there.

My friend still
